Opioid receptor

■Opioid receptors:- morphine and other opioids act through specidic receptors present in the CNS and peripheral tissue.following are opioids receptors and their function:
   A) mu:- analgesics, respiratory depression, euphoria, sedation and phisical dependence.
   B)k( kappa):- analgesics,dysphoria and sedation.
C)Delta:- analgesics (spinal and effective component of supraspinal) and emotional behaviour.

■Mechanism of action of opioids:-

Opioid receptors are G-Protien coupled receptors. Stimutation of thease receptors cAMP formation  K+ effux causing hyperpolarisation and also inhibit Ca++entry tgrough the voltage gated Ca++ channels.AC=Adenylyl cyclase cAMP=c
